It was incredibly practical—we built grow kits, made tinctures, grew mushrooms from waste—but every step was connected to something deeper.

What I loved most was how the courses are structured. You learn by doing. Plus, the support and the learner community kept me going when I felt stuck.

Ancient wisdom meets hands-on cultivation—for healing, sovereignty, and a way of life.
Grown from the soil of a working farm in Cherokee homeland, The Forest Farmacy is a school unlike any other.
Come farm medicinal mushrooms, tend land, and reconnect to soul and soil.
The modern world keeps us indoors, online, and out of touch with the Earth, ourselves and our food. Many of us are looking for something deeper…
Connection. Healing. Meaning.
For many farmers, growers, and those ready to pivot into a more purposeful livelihood, we know that longing includes a desire for:
At The Forest Farmacy: A School of Applied Eco-Mycology, we teach you to grow mushrooms, tend forests, and join the long lineage of humans who’ve acted as keystone species—stewards whose care shapes thriving ecosystems. Founded by a Cherokee mushroom cultivator and an eco-psychologist, our programs blend science and spirit into a practical path forward.
We are dismantling the “pristine wilderness” myth and restoring the truth that these forests were once abundant, tended gardens—sources of food sovereignty for countless generations of Indigenous peoples. Our goal is to pass on the skills, stories, and systems needed to sustain whole communities for generations to come.
You don’t need a degree. Just curiosity, reverence, and a willingness to grow.
Whether you want to:
We’re not just teaching cultivation. We’re reviving ancestral skills, indigenous ecosystem design, and sacred forest stewardship.
As a working farm, everything we teach is grounded in lived experience—growing nutrient-dense food and medicine in ways that feed people and regenerate ecosystems.
Our F.U.N.G.I. Signature System brings together the principles of food sovereignty, reciprocal cultivation, and multi-generational forest tending—so your work benefits both present and future generations.
Like the mycelial networks beneath our feet, this work connects people, ecosystems, and knowledge in ways that strengthen all parts of the whole.
Join the movement. Grow something sacred.
Come into right relationship with the forest—and your own sacred path.
