This workshop is offered in partnership with OtherSide Hemp and will be held at their location in Leicester, NC.
Two Days of Crafting with New Friends
This traditional hunting bow design was passed to Chris from his elders. It is his favorite bow to make and work with.
You will learn how to make it and how to use and care for it.
You will also make new friends and share stories from the forest as you whittle away.
Local Hickory Staves
We cut hickory staves in January 2022. They are currently curing in a cave at OtherSide Hemp.
The staves will be ready by September for you to turn into your new bow.
Chris will explain how to find wood, ethically harvest it and cure it so you are ready to make your next bow alone.
Learn from Experience
This is a hands-on workshop from 10am to 4pm each day.
You will get plenty of opportunity to work on your bow and may not finish it in the two days. But you will have everything you need to go home and finish it.
You will need to bring:
Lunch / Snacks / Water bottle
Notebook and pen
A draw knife if you have one. If not then a sharp knife with at least a 6” blade
A fun, focused attitude and your questions
